I’m an old school Muni F-line operator and most of my passengers are tourists. They constantly remind me how beautiful "Our City" is and I’m trying to capture their enthusiasm and essence as they see our City. To me, San Francisco is a pirate’s chest, full of fun, food and gaiety. Whether you discover our neighborhoods on foot, ride a bike, take a taxi or using Muni, SFmta gets you there. So, please join me aboard one of our historic SFmta streetcars as we “Discover . . . Our City.”

But, first, the disclaimer! Yes, I lack computer graphic skills and no grandchildren were used to draw my logo!

Let’s start with a GREEN outline to represent the over 200 parks and open space that encompass our City. Next, enclose the circle in GRAY to symbolize our natural summer weather pattern. Since the City is surround by water on 3 sides, I’ve form a BLUE three-quarter circle, around the exterior of the green circle outline. Next, let’s add 2 International ORANGE lines to depict our world-class Golden Gate Bridge and it’s sibling, the Bay Bridge.

For recognition value, the letters “SF” is embossed in GOLD color to epitomize our City’s elegance and first class spirit, followed by GREEN “mta” letters, in lower case, to acknowledge our environmental concerns and SFmta’s goal to use bio-fuel and clean renewable energy to power our little cable cars, vintage street cars and electric trolleys.

And, to cap this off and just for fun . . . the International ORANGE lines represents 3 elements.
1. The obvious, 2 parallel lines represents the main suspension fixtures on our bridges
2. The different lengths represent the Golden Gate and Bay Bridge in a 1:2.64 ratio
3. And, the hidden element, the connecting points with the ORANGE lines and the GREEN circle represents Muni’s founding year 1912. Use your imagination and the position of a 24-hour clock.

As an after thought, maybe my logo is better suited for SFMTA Centennial Celebrations?
