Farm Labor - City Resident Exchange Program
Down On The Farm
IMAGE
1

Residents reach an agreement to provide labor on the farm in exchange for transport/stay on the farm; it could be a volunteer program, or some form of barter deal for food, or some cash. Residents would be a partner with the farms and markets, and would be able to inform people in the SROs and in the city of the food opportunities in the surrounding area. It gets residents out of the city, gets them working, provides them with purpose and skills. The idea could work with the Heart of the City Farmer's Market, or with others, like The Ferry Building markets, CUESA.
