Phase Out Volunteering In Favor Of Wage Payments
Are Non-Profit Goals More Important Than People?

Parodoxically, many poor people in Central Market volunteer their time to non-profit organizations. They are eligible for government benefits or pensions, but they use their time to pursue their interests or be involved with other people. Wouldn't it be better to pay them? As an economy, it would be better if volunteers were always paid. There would be more money in circulation. But, non-payment of volunteers devalues the work that is being done as well as the appreciation the person gets from society for doing the work. Some non-profit goals would never be achieved without volunteers, but is it fair to not pay people their full worth for the work they do. If you run a non-profit, consider paying your workers, especially your poorer workers, instead of exploiting them for nothing. Make employment cost a part of your budget and fundraising goals.
