Promote Heart of the City Farmers Market's SNAP/EBT Program
Everything here (and much more) can be purchased with an EBT card.

Heart of the City Farmers Market above the Civic Center BART station has accepted SNAP/CalFresh (EBT) benefits to shop at our farmers market for more than 10 years-- but we are surprised every day how many people don't know they can use their EBT card to shop here!

Our idea is to partner directly with local community organizations to do outreach in the Tenderloin to promote the use of SNAP/CalFresh EBT benefits to shop for fresh-picked fruits and vegetables. Not only does this enable the purchase of fresh, healthy produce for San Francisco's poorest residents, it also directly supports local small farm families. We plan to distribute promotional materials explaining how to use an EBT card to shop at Heart of the City Farmers Market in multiple languages. We also plan to continue creating partnerships with local community organizations to visit cooking classes and other community events to expand awareness for this program.
