The evident idea here is to capture the "lift off into another world" that occurs when we pick up a book and get carried away. I also wanted to portray in this piece a whimsy that is characteristic of not only children's book but the very essence of imagination. Because I wanted to emphasize on the idea of ascent, it was important for me to use a portrait orientation as opposed to a landscape one.
