...as a user, I simply received an email from my energy supplier asking if I am willing to share my energy use data. if I receive paper bills, I would just scan with my smartphone a QR Code at the bottom of the bill to confirm online that i am willing to share data.
To scale such an initiative, I think it needs to be as easy as it gets for San Franciscans. The challenge would be to synchronize platforms with the energy supplier so data can be shared and read easily. An event-based communication campaign would ensure San Franciscans understand why it is so important to share energy use data.
