Youth Spark

My big idea is to provide summer city improvement work opportunities for the most underserved youth in the city. The recession has greatly cut down the work opportunities available for young people, with much more educated adults taking jobs that youth once used to support their families or save for college.

Youth spark would be a program like a summer americorps program. Youth would get work opportunities and exposure to civic activism by doing trail work in golden gate park, providing health outreach to communities advertising free clinic services, helping seniors, and interning in city hall. If they finish their term, they can get an educational grant in addition to their stipend.

This is a great idea Alexander! Can you think of some specific community or civic organizations that would partner with this program?
