Non Music Video/Spoken Word Musical Component or Compilation

When I grew up, one of my good friend's dad was a hip hop producer and engineer residing in Bayview. He would always hand me cds of all the aspiring hip hop artists within his community. I shortly became obsessed with SF/Bayview underground hip-hop. Simultaneously, my jazz combo teacher at the time was a Bayview resident. These two stories show the strong, deeply rooted musical aspects of the Bayview that are essential to understanding the culture. By sifting through the genre crossing musical talent that Bayview provides, we can hear the diversity and shared experience in stories, influences, and backgrounds each musician residing there withholds.
My proposal is to find 10+ different musical artists residing in the Bayview area, ask them to provide a piece that explains their relationship with Bayview the best, and create a compilation cd to be distributed online, and through community centers and local stores participating.
