Braided rugs can be created with all the remaining textiles that Goodwill does not sell. These fabrics can be cut into strips and braided into one long rope. With this braided rope, a circular or oval rug can be sewn together by spiraling the rope around itself. By repurposing garments and household fabrics through new area rugs, Goodwill can reduce the pressure on landfills and create jobs within San Francisco. Workers would be needed to sort, braid, and sew fabrics to create the rugs. A warehouse would be needed for this labor and these rugs could be sold at Goodwill stores around the city, as well as online. Each rug is unique since the fabrics used are coming from various garments or household textiles.
