Please Give! Donation Booth & Mobile App

For those that want to help the needy on the street, especially in the Mid-Market/Civic Center area, rather then giving change to individuals, they can either go to a booth or use an app to donate by phone to a local organization working to improve the lives of the marginalized. To promote the App and make donating easy, QR Codes could be placed along Market street.

I think many people, such as myself, care about the less fortunate, but do not believe in giving money directly to an individual due to the chance it could be feeding destructive behavior. All I can currently do, is do my best to acknowledge and respect them as human beings.

This project would allow people to say "Yes, I'd like to help, but I want to give to an organization you think could best help you." Donating based on the individuals recommendation.

The app could also provide information blurbs when accessed that dispel negative myths about homelessness and other things that impact marginalized communities.

This project is made possible by the City and County of San Francisco, SPUR, the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services and the Department of Technology
