The Goodwill building on Van Ness and 11th seems to have enough space to host community skills classes, and they have extra textiles for these classes. Classes could be taught by mentors and students could build portfolios online on Pinterest, tagged #goodwillingmanufactured, or something like that.

High-end items with minor damage could be altered or repaired to be brought back to life and sold, put in an online portfolio tagged "goodwillingresurrected, for example.

In our information session, the issue of the loss of sewing skills was brought up - this could be a social community event that can teach practical, creative skills to underemployed individuals and aspiring designers from youth to older people desiring evening activities after regular Goodwill hours. This would also provide marketing and could offshoot into online sales and a launching pad for new designers. It could also be featured in a streetstyle blog and sponsored by local companies like Levi Strauss & Co.

This project is made possible by the City and County of San Francisco, SPUR, the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services and the Department of Technology
