Tri-county Public Space Hammock Project

To promote wellness in a well rounded health driven environment, all three counties would provide residents the option of resting in their own hammocks via installed hammock stands/poles in public spaces such as parks, recreational areas, plazas, bus stations, etc. The hammocks would be made with recycled fabric from Goodwill, and conveniently distributed for purchase at designated public places and/ retail partners. The hammock project would serve as a leading example of healthful improvements implemented for California residents to better use their public spaces, and could expand with time to include other counties as well. The project would create local jobs through the need to designate new hammock areas, design and install hammock stands/poles, manufacture hammocks from recycled fabrics, and to sell the hammocks. Lastly, in the spirit of goodwill, the hammock project could share a portion of its proceeds towards greening the environment by planting a tree for every hammock sold.

This project is made possible by the City and County of San Francisco, SPUR, the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services and the Department of Technology
